Calvin's Tanya Visser Named MIAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week for Indoor Track and Field

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - For the first time in her collegiate career, Calvin sophomore Tanya Visser has been named the MIAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week for indoor track and field.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern High School, Visser had a big afternoon this past Saturday at the North Central Invitational in Naperville, Illinois.

Visser took second in the shot put with a career-best throw of 40-0, surpassing her previous career-best by more than two-and-a-half feet. Her throw of 40-0 in the shot put ranks 10th in the Great Lakes (Division III) Regional rankings.

In the weight throw, Visser placed 16th in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 41-4 1/4.

Visser helped the Calvin women's track and field team place sixth at the competition with a final team score of 43 points.
