GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Calvin remained unbeaten on the year with a 5-0 victory over Trine Tuesday night at Zuidema Field.

Calvin (4-0-0 overall, 4-0-0 MIAA) silenced the Thunder with three goals in the opening 10 minutes to take early control of the game.

Calvin added a fourth in the 23rd minute and a fifth in the 51st to round out the scoring.

The Knights sit on top of the MIAA standings with Kalamazoo also unbeaten at 3-0-0 in league play but three points behind the Knights.

Calvin took a 1-0 lead against Trine just 52 seconds into the match as freshman Sophie Mueller (North Muskegon, Mich./North Muskegon HS) set up freshman Elizabeth Williams (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) for a shot that found the back of the net from near the top of the 18-yard box.

Just over six minutes later, Williams was able to spring Paulson into a clean break on a goal with a perfect through-ball pass. Paulson made good on the pass, whipping a shot in to give the Knights a 2-0 advantage.

In the 10th minute, freshman Kaitlyn VanLaare (Brampton, Ont./London District Christian HS) whipped home a rebound off a shot originally struck by Williams. In the 23rd minute, sophomore Anna Reimink (Winona Lake, Ind./Lakeland Christian Academy) took a short pass from sophomore Kayla Beebe (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian HS) and chipped a shot over the Trine keeper's head for a 4-0 advantage.

VanLaare notched her first collegiate brace in the 51st minute, chipping in a long shot on a feed from Williams to close out the scoring.

Calvin finished the match with a 25-7 shots at goal advantage. In addition to two goals from VanLaare, Calvin received a goal and three assists from Williams.

Senior Amy Kliewer (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) collected three saves in goal for the Knights in posting her 22nd collegiate shutout.
