GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's lacrosse team opened MIAA play with a victory over Adrian on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon. The Knights put away the Bulldogs, 17-6.

The Knights scored two goals in the opening minute. Junior Emma Tilma (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) snuck the ball past the Bulldog keeper off a pass from sophomore Emma Verrett (Beaver, Pa./Beaver County Christian). Junior Lauryn Slachter (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian)  then sprinted down the field untouched by the defense and scored seven seconds later.

Leading 2-1, junior Kelly Pepper (Wyckoff, N.J./Indian Hills) had a shot that was too hot for Hannah Emerson to handle. Pepper would continue to pepper the Adrian net and scored the next three Calvin goals.

Senior Amanda Davio (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) broke the Pepper scoring streak with a goal of her own.

Up a player, Lauryn Slachter struck again off a pass from Kelly Pepper.

Emma Verrett scored her first goal of the game with 9:14 left in the first half.

Over the next four minutes, Amanda Davio, Emma Verrett and Emma Tilma all scored.

Calvin walked into halftime with a 12-4 lead.
