Calvin Men's Lacrosse Beaten by Benedictine 15-10

LISLE, Il. - Calvin mounted a strong second half comeback effort before falling to Benedictine University 15-10 Tuesday night.

The Knights (2-1) trailed 9-3 at halftime and 14-5 after three quarters. Calvin then outscored the Eagles (3-0) 6-1 in the final quarter of play to provide the final five-goal margin of victory.

Sophomore Chase Sparling (Novi, Mich./Novi HS) had another strong game, winning 20 of 29 faceoffs while collecting 10 ground balls and causing three turnovers.

Junior Nathan Jindra (South Bend, Ind./John Adams HS) had a pair of goals and a pair of ground balls.

Senior Griffin Sparling (Novi, Mich./Novi HS) had two goals as did freshman Robert Miner (Littleton, Co./Columbine HS).

Junior Noah Boelens (Round Lake, Il./Grayslake Central HS) had a goal and four ground balls.

Freshmen Ethan Quiggle (Lowell, Mich./Lowell HS) and Ethan Curtis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northen HS) had goal apiece.

Junior Derek Sanchez (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) had a career-high 12 ground balls.

Sophomore goalie Evan Griffin (Howell, Mich./Hartland HS) had 10 saves in three quarters of play. Senior Mitchell Caldwell (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing HS) played the final 15 minutes in goal for the Knights.

Calvin will travel to Anderson University on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game.
