Calvin Men's Lacrosse Downed by Dutchmen in Rivalry Meeting

HOLLAND, Mich. - Calvin dropped a 12-3 rivalry decision at Hope Saturday afternoon.

Hope (9-3 overall, 3-0 MIAA) outscored Calvin (8-6 overall, 1-2 MIAA) 6-1 in the first quarter and held control the rest of the way.

The Flying Dutchmen were dominant on faceoffs, winning 15 of 19 attempts to control possession of the ball.

Sophomore Gerrit Kurtcyz (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) was busy in goal, collecting 19 saves in 31 shots on goal.

Sophomore Conner Wysong (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) scored Calvin's first goal, firing one into the back of the net with 1:51 left in the first quarter.

Senior Max Foster (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice HS) scored in the opening minutes of the third quarter on an man-up opportunity, converting a feed from sophomore Nathan Jindra (South Bend, Ind./John Adams HS).

Calvin's final goal of the game came from sophomore Noah Boelens (Round Lake, Il./Grayslake Central HS) with just 56 seconds left in regulation time.

Foster, Wysong, Jindra and senior Noah Nedd (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) all had four ground balls apiece.

Calvin returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Adrian at 7 p.m. at Zuidema Field.
