ALBION, Mich, - Calvin senior Sam Holland tied an MIAA Tournament record in claiming his third medalist award in four tries this spring. Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) carded a round of 65 at the Duck Lake Country Club, shooting a 33 on the front nine and a 32 on the back.
Holland finished six shots clear of the field in matching an MIAA record originally set by Joel Bickell of Trine in 2005 and later matched by Jordan Kelly of Adrian in 2010 and Nick Campbell of Hope in 2012.
Holland helped Calvin finish second in the team standings on Tuesday as the Knights finished with a score of 292, four strokes behind first place Trine and three strokes ahead of third place Hope.
The Knights are now three strokes behind Hope in the overall team standings with Trine leading the overall standings by a 38-stroke margin.
Junior Kasen Anderson (Stillwater, Mn./St. Croix Preparatory School) had a 70 for Calvin to finish second on the squad. Freshman Gannon McDonnough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater HS) cracked the lineup and made good, shooting a round of 78. Senior Joshua Lansky (Park City, Utah./Park City HS) and sophomore Jacob Siebenga (Surrey, B.C./Surrey Christian HS) had rounds of 79.
