Calvin senior Derrick DeVries has added two more All-America mentions to his career resume'.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Covenant Christian High School, DeVries has been named to the Division III News All-America Fourth Team. In addition, he has been named to the Honorable Mention All-America Team.

Last week, DeVries was named to the NABC Division III All-America Third Team.

DeVries was named the 2020 MIAA Most Valuable Player after averaging 25.7 points and 8.8 rebounds a game. During the 2019-20 season, he set a new Calvin single-season record for points with 667, breaking the previous school record of 661 set by Steve Honderd during the 1991-92 season. Last month, he was named one of 50 finalists for the prestigious Bevo Francis Award - given to the top small college men's basketball player in the country.

He was a four-time MIAA Player of the Week during the season and landed National Player of the Week honors once.

During the 2019-20 season, DeVries had nine 30-point scoring performances during the season, matching the Calvin single-season record originally set by Mark Veenstra during the 1975-76 season. In November, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic for the second straight year, earning the award after hitting a three-point shot at the buzzer in a 71-68 win over Cornerstone.

He is ranked eighth on the Calvin career scoring list with 1,585 points.

"I am thrilled to continue to see Derrick receive post-season honors," said Calvin men's basketball coach Bill Sall who recently completed his first year at the helm of the Knights. "He has put in a tremendous amount of work over the last year and it is wonderful to see his work rewarded, particularly at the Division III level where there are over 400 schools. He had an amazing season and I know his teammates are just as excited as I am to see him recognized on a national stage. It has been a pleasure to work with him this year and watch him grow as a player and as a person."

The Calvin men's basketball team finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 15-11. The Knights took third in the MIAA regular season standings with a 9-5 record. The Knights later reached the MIAA Tournament semifinals.
