Grand Rapids, MI – The Calvin University men's basketball renews a rivalry against Hope College Saturday afternoon at Hope's DeVos Fieldhouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m on Saturday February 8.
The Teams: Calvin and Hope. The Knights enter the game with an 11-9 overall record and a 5-4 MIAA mark. Calvin most recently claimed a victory over conference opponent Olivet College with a score of 79-53. The Dutchmen enter the game with an 11-9 overall record and are 4-5 in the MIAA. Hope recently suffered a loss to Albion College with a score of 76-68 this past Wednesday.
The Coaches: Bill Sall is in his 1st season as head coach of the Calvin men's basketball program. Greg Mitchell is in his 6th season as the head coach of the Hope men's basketball program. He has led the Flying Dutchmen to three Michigan Intercollegiate regular-season championship and three NCAA Division III Championships tournament appearances. He is also a Hope graduate and played four seasons of basketball for the Flying Dutchmen.
The Players: The Knights have three players averaging double digits in scoring. Derrick DeVries is averaging 24.9 points per game while teammate Thad Shymankski is averaging 16.1. Alex Bos is now averaging 11.1 points per game while also averaging 8.2 rebounds a game. The Dutchmen have two players averaging double digits in scoring; Preston Granger (20.1), Evan Thomas (13.3), Tyler George (10.6).

Recent History: Calvin is 98-103 against Hope all-time. Calvin won both meetings in the regular season and beat them in the first round of the MIAA Tournament last year. The Knights down the Dutchmen earlier this year with a score of 75-62.
