ALBION, Mich. - Calvin dropped its MIAA opener by a 92-63 score Wednesday night.
Albion (10-2 overall, 1-0 MIAA) grabbed a 22-11 lead eight minutes into the first half and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
The Britons led 49-27 at halftime and held Calvin (6-6 overall, 0-1 MIAA) to 35.5 percent field goal shooting. The Knnights also turned the ball over 15 times while Albion shot 54.4 percent overall and placed four players in double digits in scoring led by Caden Ebeling's 26 points.
Calvin was led in scoring by senior Alex Bos (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) who had 23 points and seven rebounds while senior Derrick DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) had 14 points and seven boards. Sophomore Jordan Katje (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian HS) added four points and seven rebounds.
Albion held a 45-34 rebounding advantage.
Calvin is back in action Saturday night when it hosts Olivet at 7:30 p.m. at Van Noord Arena. The Saturday night game is a change from the original schedule as Olivet is in the midst of a facility issue on its campus. Calvin will play at Olivet now on February 5.
